Management and Roles

The Operations Division of the New Braunfels Fire Department (NBFD) is comprised of three separate shifts, each having 40 highly trained men and women who proudly serve the citizens and visitors in New Braunfels. The Operations Division is led by Assistant Chief Derek Wrenn. Each shift is commanded by a battalion chief, who is housed at Station 1. Station 1 also has a captain and lieutenant, every other station has a lieutenant in charge of their respective station. Every NBFD firefighter is at a minimum dual-certified. That is, they are a certified firefighter and an emergency medical technician. NBFD firefighters could be called for fire suppression for one call and then perform a completely different role on their next call for help as EMS technicians.
